Sailors - Living in the Oslofjord

Italian Institute of Culture of Oslo (Norway)

2025 Artistic residency

Sailors – Living in the Oslofjord is a journey through the islands of the Oslofjord, where land and sea meet in a quiet, continuous rhythm. Archival images, maps, and contemporary photographs reveal spaces shaped by time, nature, and the everyday life of their communities. Developed during an artistic residency at the Italian Cultural Institute in Oslo between April and July 2025, the project draws on documentation from the Bjørvika Deichman Library and the Oslo City Museum archives.

The work is organized into seven photographic series — Enjoy, Raise the Flag!, Stay Connected, In the Middle of (Nature), Taking Care, Behind the Fence, and In the Water — each exploring different aspects of life, care, and connection with the islands. This exploration reflects the delicate balance between people, nature, and the ever-shifting border between land and sea.
